A relative in Wales told me she contacts her local council all the time and they have given her all the burial information she needs for free. I am so glad I discovered Rootschat as there are so many people like you who are willing to spend their time helping people like me. Very kind people you know who you are on this site have worked with me and still we draw a blank! The death certificate gave an address and occupation so I thought he was just being treated in that hospital because he couldn't afford the treatment. I know Michael Brett and his wife Catherine are in Sunderland Cemetery as the Sunderland Cemetery Index has them but no actual location of grave. His death certificate states that he died in the Union Hospital and gives his occupation as Ships Steward of 40 East Street. I have also found no death announcement. Maybe the source you found the article about Edward has a report about his inquest too. I am trying to find out as much as possible about him. I thought I would never know the circumstances surrounding his death and am truly grateful to you. This message may have come a little late as you may already have the info. I have only been researching for almost 3 years but have no experience at all regarding obtaining burial records.

I have contacted the Durham County Records Office to see if they hold any records of Coroners reports for 1915 or any workhouse records for the same year. The death certificate reveals an inquest was held into his death on 14th May Sunderland. The cause of death was 'pneumonia of left lung accelerated by shock from an accidental fall caused by his being pushed to aside on the 30th inst while in day room by an inmate of workhouse'. Hi all I have hit a massive brick wall bought every certificate known to man and still i'm stuck! Ryhopelad Hi Ryhopelad, I can't tell you how happy I was to see your reply to my post. My great X 3 grandfather wasn't in the workhouse in 1911 as the census does not show him but Patrick Hughes, the witness at the inquest was. They have replied to say they hold records for neither and have suggested looking for a newspaper report in connectiion with the incident.

Robert was born in 1870 and died age 59 buried in Murton cemetary. Another kind gentleman, who lives in Sweden, has access to the Swedish books and has been able to find loads of information. I had contacted Sunderland Coroner's Office to enquire if they held any old records but they told me that they are destroyed unless they have any historical interest. Julie Hi Ryhopelad, I am extremely grateful for any help you can give me and appreciate the offer of burial look-ups. Where do you access the records? He was a stonemason and I was wondering if it was an accident at work.

Any problems please get in touch. Do you have his burial details, can look these up if needed, did not have time today. There is a death announcement for him but no coroner's report that I can find. I don't have any burial records as I wrote to Sunderland Council and they wanted a lot of money to do the search. Lorem ivelit esse cillum dolore eu fugiat nulla pariatur. Is there anyone who has access to the Sunderland Echo Archives who can help me? Excepteur sint occaecat cupidatat non proident, sunt in culpa qui officia deserunt mollit anim id est laborum.

I know he was buried at Sunderland Cemetery at Grangetown but no idea of the burial location. I appreciate that someone may need to go out of their way to look this up and i am happy to reinburse where necessary as it would take a full day to drive there and back before i even get to look.
