The campground is within walking distance of the village where you can stop at the Visitor Center, Hot Springs, and even venture north towards Gardiner and stop at one of our! Otherwise the staff will choose for you and they seem to like to fill up loops instead of offering the best sites. Keep a safe distance from all wildlife. Use this to determine what suits you best. Yellowstone Country has it all! Camp hosts were great and stopped by daily to say hello. We would definitely stay here again. However, many of them do allow generator use during the day. There are lots of trees which makes some spots harder to get into. No matter the season, wildlife watching is one of the park's most popular activities, given its rare megafauna, like grizzly bears, wolves, moose and bison. It is a favorite of fisherman in the fall because of the trout spawn wich brings many large fish up from Hebgen Reservior. With close proximity to the park and miles of wilderness, these campgrounds are a great place to launch your daily adventures from. Sites vary in price according to the manager's whims. Some sites are accessible to the handicapped or disabled. We stayed here for 5 nights before we headed over to Fishing Bridge Campground in Yellowstone where we had a full-service campsite. The other times of year, maximum length of stay is 30 days.

So Yellowstone may not be the best place to plan on bringing your dog when you go camping, it may be safer and more comfortable for your pet to find someone to take care of them back at home. We stayed 4 nights with our 38' Travel Trailer. Shared food storage lockers are also available in the campground. You may prefer to have one basecamp location for your entire stay or move to several difference campgrounds providing more time to explore nearby regions rather than drive a large portion of the day just to get there.

My Verizon cell service usually did not work, neither did their wifi. We were right at the doorstep of Yellowstone National Park. The weather can change very quickly. After asking them why, they all said they were standing right behind Jake my brother-in-law since he had it under control! Most campsites in Yellowstone will not accommodate oversize units. We stayed in for over three weeks and had days that we got up in the morning and were gone all day so that we could do the things we wanted to do throughout the park.
Open from early May to mid-October, Madison is a popular pick for a vacation camping spot. If you get there early and you are lucky you may snag an electric site. Each campsite has a table, fire ring, grate and food storage locker. Great view over the Madison River below the Lake Hebgen Dam and above Quake Lake. Will it still be there reserved for you , or have you lost it as soon as you pull out? We had a tiny bit of cell coverage. The spring and summer offer temperatures between 30 and 60 degrees during the day and overnight lows in the single digits.
Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. This primitive campground is the smallest in the park with 23 first come, first served campsites in the trees, some in the open meadow and others along the banks of Slough Creek. Madison Campground 307 344-7381 44. There are no hook-ups or dump station. But having been there multiple times now,we know it is totally doable and this park is well worth planning a visit to. Love this place so much, we came back for a couple of more visits. Take my advice and try to stay over here instead! If you strike out here, continue up forest service road 493 to Timber Creek Campground and Bear Creek Campground.
