Quiet Waters took a big hit during Hurricane Wilma, the center of which passed right over the park, and a huge swath of trees and vegetation was ripped out of the ground, leaving much of the park barren, compared to what it once was. But far from just the massive empty desert most of the state is comprised of, state park experiences in Nevada can range from camping under massive pine trees near the crystal clear waters of Lake Tahoe to the striating red rock experiences of Valley of Fire State Park, and yes, plenty of that Great Basin tan desert expanse the majority of the state exudes. There are several hiking trails, including one which leads out to Deadhorse Point. George Island is a great place for fishing, swimming, shelling, and even stargazing.
